Copper-Clad Aluminum Conductors: Risks and Potential Consequences
Often regarded as a secondary aspect, cables—both power cables and data transmission cables—are frequently overlooked or, worse, treated as components on which to cut costs.
The drive to lower prices and the general underestimation of what are, in fact, fundamental components for achieving and maintaining top performance, have led some manufacturers to introduce alternative materials to copper on the market, such as Copper-Clad Aluminum (CCA) conductors.
The risks associated with the use of these low-cost alternatives are manifold, and they affect not only performance but, more importantly, the safety of the installation itself, with potential consequences for both property and people.
The analysis carried out by AICE – the Italian Association of Cable and Insulated Conductor Manufacturers, available at the link below, addresses and highlights these very risks.
Don’t let the cable be the weak link in your infrastructure. Always choose the quality and reliability of qualified, certified suppliers!
